Dear Journeyer,
As a healer who has also experienced firsthand the hardships that come with mental illness, I am happy to share some information with you, information that hopefully will help you or someone you know.
We have made great strides in Mental Health awareness over these past few decades and this annual day is yet one more step toward eliminating stigma attached to mental health issues and in helping prevent it through spotlighting proactive things we can do to stay healthy.
This year’s focus is “psychological first aid.”
Psychological first aid is critical for those of us in the helping fields, for when we administer to ourselves, we are better able to minister to others.
We healers and givers tend to forget to take care of ourselves, but it is imperative-like putting on your own face mask in an aeronautical disaster-if we are to be able to perform our life purpose to the best of our abilities and without burnout.
I am reblogging this information as found on mental health advocate, Kitt O’Malley’s page. Kitt, too, understands firsthand the challenges of living with a mental health condition-Bipolar Disorder-while taking care of others and works hard to keep us all informed and inspired.
