When I was in high school I worked for a large grocery, one that was actually a Supermarket before Supermarkets became vogue.
This chain had one of the first gourmet coffee centers and I was assigned to that department.
“What would you recommend,” or “What does this taste like?” were common questions.
To which I inevitably answered, “I don’t know. I don’t drink coffee.”
But I love the smell of a fresh pot brewing.
I used to say that if it weren’t wasteful, I’d perk a pot every morning, just so I could smell it.
It’s a bit of a shame that I don’t like coffee, because mornings and I are seriously lacking in chemistry.
In order to make it through a job that requires me to be up at or before the crack of dawn, I need something to stimulate me.
I am so thankful for mornings when the clouds aren’t full, because the sunrise is my morning cup o’ Joe.
I love it when my morning commute begins like this.
One day last week, this refreshing view stared back at me as I stepped out of my car.
And this is what I saw as I walked across the parking lot.
Who needs Folgers with skies like these?
What about you? What energizes you in the morning?
